Bright afternoon sunlight streams across a rural road. Watercolor painting by Kris DeBruine.

This historic stone bridge is near my home and is one of my favorite subjects to paint. The bridge was built in the 1930’s.

Skagit Valley is one of the largest tulip producing areas in the United States. It is near my home in the Pacific Northwest. I love painting tulips.

Chuckanut Island is located in the Salish Sea in Washington State, USA. It is a common destination for kayakers.

This brilliant sunrise was painted en plein air at sunrise in Heather Meadows, near Mount Baker. The sun rises over the shoulder of Mt. Shuksan. The early morning sunlight makes the fall foliage shimmer with gold.

Painted in plein air from Lighthouse Point Trail with a view of Deception Island in the Puget Sound. I captured the figure of a young man watching the island from this idyllic location.

A Lazuli Bunting bird. The male flashes a teal blue head and a pumpkin colored breast. This bird is native to western North America. I was inspired by the colors of this bird. The teal blue color juxtaposed to the orange color on the breast creates a beautiful complement.

The tulip blooms under the bright blue sky of the Skagit Valley in the Pacific Northwest. I live in tulip country and this is one of my favorite flowers.
